Britney Gets Visits, No Custody Sarah Hall Tue Oct 30, 3:48 PM ET Kevin Federline remains a full-time daddy. Court Commissioner Scott M. Gordon has ruled against reinstating Britney Spears' shared custody of two-year-old Sean Preston and one-year-old Jayden James, leaving the boys in the care of their father. (View the court documents.) Gordon did grant the troubled pop mama two visits per week from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., and one overnight visit. All of the visits are required to be overseen by a court-appointed monitor. Spears and Federline were ordered to meet to work out a visitation schedule as well as a holiday schedule for their children. In her continued challenge to prove herself a responsible parent, Spears was also ordered to submit evidence by Friday that she had child-proofed her homes and that her pool area complies with safety regulations. Marking another defeat for Spears, the judge turned down her request to "terminate or modify" a court order requiring her to submit to twice-weekly random drug testing. He ordered her to continue the tests for a 60-day period, after which, provided she tests clean, they will be reduced to once a week. Spears was also ordered to continue meeting with her parenting coach Lisa Hacker once a week for two hours. In her report on Spears' parenting skills, Hacker noted that the pop star seemed to have trouble connecting with her children, and that the boys had no routine while at their mother's home. "The environment at the house ranged from chaotic to almost somber with little communication at all," Hacker wrote after observing Spears with her kids on three occasions. "It seems that her choices are dependent more upon what she wants to do at any given time rather than what would be more enjoyable for the children." Hacker noted that after she presented her initial findings to the court, she had an additional session with Spears during which the singer seemed much more attentive to her children. "The problem is that unless Ms. Spears realizes the consequences of her behavior and the impact it has [on] her children, nothing is going to be successful," Hacker wrote. A full child custody evaluation is underway, but lawyers for both sides told the judge it would not be completed until January. Another custody hearing has been scheduled for April. During last Friday's hearing, a visibly upset Spears exited the courtroom on several occasions to use the bathroom. Asked by an Extra reporter on one of those trips how she was doing, Spears responded, "Eat it, lick it, snort it, f--k it!" before storming back into the courtroom. Apparently, she could already read the writing on the wall. |
